belonged to Christ alone (v. 12). Quarrelsomeness (v. 11) is identified in the New Testament as an act of the sinful nature in contrast to the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:19–21; cf. 1 Cor. 3:1–4). Divisions and quarrelling in the church hinder its effective proclamation and sharing of the gospel.
